Last weekend I had the opportunity to attend Time Out For Women in St. George, Utah with several of my female family members and a few friends. This is something that I have done for a few years now. This year, more than ever before, I felt the need to go. I not only desired the companionship of these wonderful ladies, but I wanted to be inspired.
One of the women at the conference was Hillary Weeks. She was charming and engaging as she spoke and sang, but she introduced this video to me for the first time…Beautiful Heartbreak.
Behind this music is such a powerful message. We can't know what any other individual is going through by merely looking at their facade…their exterior, outward being takes no more than a glance to observe and might be a mere illusion of their real self. Each of us has a compelling story, and if we can look deeper than the outer shell, perhaps we can find the compassion to judge less and love more. If we can find in our hearts the desire to help a fellow traveler along this sometimes difficult road we call life, to ease their burdens, to be a friend…we might also find the healing that comes from doing it "to one of the least of these" and find relief from our own trials by not being the center of our own focus.
There is so much that I want to write right now, but I have other squeaky wheels that need my attention before I have a quiet moment to gather my thoughts. I took notes at TOFW and will share more another day. Inspiration is only as effective if we put it to use…inspiration should not go to waste!
