Tonight I went to a wonderful musical presentation by members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, San Diego North Stake. It was a broad variety of music, accompanied by some very talented instrumental musicians. Very enjoyable. When the third number from Handel's Messiah, the Hallelujah Chorus began, a number of members in the audience stood up. I wasn't sure why. So I looked it up – online, of course – and didn't find a definitive answer. Apparently during a performance of the Messiah, during the Hallelujah Chorus, King George II stood up, so as not to offend the king, the rest of the audience stood up. I guess it's not mandatory, especially since we have long since given up the King-thing, but it was a lovely evening, nonetheless.
I'm sure that many of you have seen it, but just in case, here is a lovely rendition that I would have loved to be present to witness! Enjoy!
Hope you are all having a wonderful Christmas season!
