A Little Project

A couple of months ago, my son Jake asked me if I’d be interested in a little project…making some cards to tuck inside gift baskets for clients for the holidays.  My first thought was, “How hard could this be?”  I am pretty adept at making cards.  So I asked him how many.  “Three cards per basket…100 baskets, maybe a few more.”

Well, I have my work cut out for me!  Two months ago, it seemed like a pretty easy task.  If I started breaking it down, then it wouldn’t be too bad – only about 4 cards a day would get the job done.  Well, I have 8 days before the first installment is due and only about 90 cards done.

I wanted to take at least half the cards to drop off at Jake’s when I head off to St. George next week.  That means that I need to do another 50-60 cards before I leave town, which boils down to about 7 to 8 cards per day.  I think it’s still doable.  So I’ll give you a countdown for the next few days and share some cards along the process.

So the assignment was to make cards that were semi-generic in theme..”.thank you”, “thinking of you”, “hello” and maybe a “happy birthday” card assortment…cards that everyone could use.

I am almost done with the “thank you” cards and started on the “hello” cards.  In order to make so many, the plan is to keep them along the same format, keep them fairly simple, but to change up the papers and colors.  I’m really trying to use up a lot of the odds and ends papers that I have in my stash, as long it doesn’t get too complicated.

Now I need to work on the third type!  Oh, and did I mention that I’m teaching a class on card making this Thursday?  I think this is yet another reason that my cards have gotten put on the back burner, but it is time to get busy!
